I know of a 1979 Full Size Bronco 4x4 in my area minus the auto tranny(tranny equipment and stuff is there)with the 9" Rear and a(I think)351M,351C or 400.All that the people want for it is 100 dollars.
The reason I want it is its one hell of a deal and it doenst have a computer!!!I see that Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has alot of parts for them and I am sure there are more.
I know it is rusty on the outside but what else is there to look for on it?What were the problem areas on these old beasts?I know the tailgate is one...Also how can I figure out what it has for an engine?
These have the same problems as new fsbroncos. the talegate, fenders are rust dpepsits. also the rear windows have problems sometimes. have somebody look at the engine to tell you which one it is. sounds like a good deal.
sounds like a great deal to me. rust is the biggest problem. i got mine for 700. have had it for 5 months and only put in $200-$300, but needs a radiator eventually($400 for the one i want). if it has the c-6 (3spd) tranny you shouldn't have too many problems, i don't think. there should be a sticker under the hood. for the 351M it should say 5.8L (M)
if it is a 79 they only came with the option of 2 motors that year. assuming it is stock chances are its the 351M/400 5.8L or the other one is a 6.? somethin liter 400 i think. i have a 79 with the 351 and i picked it up for 500 and have drivin it to work and back evry day since with almost no hassel. a 100 bucks is a sweet @ZZ deal man even if the motor is shot its not hard to find one and put it in in a weekend for cheap. (couple a friends and a 12 pack)plus theres amillion and one different ways to go with it parts wise. hell if you dont want it let me know where it is and if its close i'll come with mine and cash and a tow bar and make somethin happen. or if your in the area. (MD) and need some help i'll give ya a hand with it. I love seeing more people get into a rig who wanna keep em alive.
BUY IT! those big Broncos arent as nice looking as the newer ones but they are tough as hell
What he must have meant to say is the 78-79 Broncos are much BETTER looking than the newer Broncos and for $100 you would have to hold a sub machine gun to my head to get me NOT to buy it!
GET IT GET IT GET IT before someone else does!!
