hey i went to the monster truck races last week and on the way out i turned a little too sharp and rubbed a white fence post (wood) down the side of my med blue truck any ideas how to get this out without damaging clear coat its a 97 and dont want it looking crappy also have a few rub marks from small tree branches down the same side too help please
Most fence posts are painted with a "whitewash" that isn't too bad to remove. I'd try the safest stuff first. Wash it with detergent. Then try polish. If that dosen't work, go to compound. The compound will remove it for sure, just don't rub through the clearcoat. With any luck, you didn't crease the panels....

Although I am not recommending this (because you could damage your paint), I have used straight lacquer thinner to take care of such issues.
If you decided to try it, first try it on some of the paint that won't be visible (like in the engine compartment). Don't pour the lacquer thinner on the paint. Just put it on a rag and rub a bit. Clearcoat is pretty tough but you don't want to soak it down.
