No fuel pressure

I have no fuel pressure now on my 90 Ranger 2.9L. What do I check first? I checked the fuse. Can I access the wires to the pump without taking the box off the frame? Could I have a problem with something else like the fuel relay, or fuel pressure sensor? If so how do I check these components out? I appreciate any info you can give me.
I have a feeling my pump is shot but would like to rule out other things first if possible.

No fuel pressure

Check the inertia switch which should be just above the carpet on the passengers side and the fuel pump relay below the power distribution box first.

How do I ckeck the relay? I understand I can jumper the wires on the inertia switch to by pass that. Thanks for the info.

Pull it out, apply 12v to close it and then check for continuity.

It was the fuel pump. I took the box off and it sure made it easier to work on. I think my kids ran the tank dry once to often. Anyway thanks for all the info and help.
