just wondering if this issue with the air leaking in on the fuel lines conections applies to all PSD years and models. After reading about this ongoing issue several times now, i finally crawled under my new (used '01 F350 CC with 24K miles) to check out these connections. On this truck I see about 12" of rubber hose comming into the back of the fuel pump, the other side of this hose connects to a steel line than heads back to the tank where i can't see any more connections as the tank is almost up against the frame. Where this rubber hose connects to the steel line it appears it's just been slid over the steel line - no clamps of any kind. Where the rubber connects to the pump the rubber hose appears to be expanded and molded. No clamp there either ??? This can't be right!
when i did mine the connection on fuel pump inlet has a o-ring in it
the connection right on pump it self then a short piece or rubber hose then it connects to the hard fuel line that one is a crimp style connection
the ones that leak are the one's that connected directly to inlet of pump , one connection above fuel tank and the one inside fuel tank
those three are the ones that have o-ring connector that when in a vacuum leak air
buy the way mine is a 2000 psd i would think yours would be the same
Yeah, what TJC said. In a nutshell you have to cut the braided lines away from the steel lines that run along the frame for the inlet side of the fuel pump.
Here is a link to the Webshots gallery of the Hutch mod. Pictures tell a thousand words. I did this on my truck and it made a world of difference. http://community.webshots.com/album/32614313yLKyrS/0
