When you push the 4x4 button hear clicking noise from glove box area but light doesn't come on and doesn't seem that the transfer case is kicking in. Has automatic hubs.
Its a 93 ext cab, any help on were to start looking is greatly appreciated.
Is there a fuse or a sensor one could check? Before I start replacing part after part after part till everything is new. Truck isn't worth that much just want to get 4x4 working to get through winter's misery.
Thanks in advance!!!
There is a small electric motor on the transfer case that acutally puts the truck into 4wd when you push the putton. Have someone push the button while you are laying under the truck. You should be able to hear the motor run and the clunk when it shifts the transfer case. If not, the motor is probably bad. If you don't actuate the 4wd very often, the motor can seize up. I'm not sure if spraying a lubricant on it will work, you may just have to replace the motor.
