Where are all of you guys mounting your trailer brake controllers on your trucks with captains chairs and flow through console? I don't see any GOOD spots.
Im in the same spot I think too the left of the stearing wheel about where your knee is .? Shane what Brake controller did you get ? I took the old one off my old truck when I got my new screw and I cant us it the harness has 5 wires and the old controller has 4 Thanks
I haven't looked at that yet, But I too pulled my controller out of my Superduty and haven't yet installed in the new truck yet. I just pulled the trailer for the first time last night. I am not happy at all!!! My empty car trailer squatted my truck I'd say almost 2"!!! Time to order air bags today. That's a whole new post though......lol
How hard is it to put in a controller? Are the wires and harness already there? Does the power run back to the trailer through the wiring harness for the lights?
I use a Prodogy from Tek (something or another). I mounted it on a metal plate under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. I also got a Ford connector with it. It just pluged right in. No issues and no problems. I have a FX4 and I'm impressed (for a gas truck) with how it tows my car. When I hook up the trailer, the rear end does go down a little, but it only makes it level.
Same here, tekonsha prodigy, they are plug and play, just order the ford harness and it plugs in under the dash. Mine is mounted on the metal plate left side under dash too.
The Prodigy is about $99.00, but once you set them, they are set. And it only takes about 2 minutes to set or less.
I got prodigy and mounted it under the dashboard as far right as I could right above the gas pedal. These is a bracket there that fit perfectly and I can easily see it and get to controls.
If your truck has the towing package with a 7-pin connector by the hitch, all you need is to mount a brake controller. Make sure you get a plug-in harness when you buy the controller. The hardest part is mounting the bracket for the controller. Good luck!!!
