Now that I have 1950 chassis stripped bare, I am in the process of locating a new rear end; from 95-01 Explorer. I've decided on 3:55 ratio, with discs if possible. Has anyone done this mod to F1 . Is so what was involved to fitting spring perches to F1 chassis ? Rough measurements of frame of Explorer reveal kick up in frame, with spring hangers at different heights front to back ?Is there any notching of chassis involved to fit to F1? I would like to retain stock height.
Also take a look at 86-96 Volvo RWD models. Same Dana rear as the Ford.
Width is just right for fat fender Ford cars; may also be OK for your F1. Springs are coils so you have to fab your own perches. However rear discs and lockers are popular on many models.
One plus is you know they have never been beat on!!
