i have a cavalier 3.1 v6 engine sitting doing nothing, i was wondering if it would be possible to use in my 93 ranger xlt 3.0 eventually when she blows, i have my douts it would work but i dont no.
I never heard of that swap. IMO, when the time comes, you'd be much better off picking up a used Ford 3.0L from a junkyard, they can be found pretty cheap.
Absolutely NONE of the GM 3.1L V-6 bolt patterns, bolt sizes, mount dimensions, etc. interchange with the 3.0L Ford engine. The 3.1 GM engine was used for transaxle applications, too. Even the high-pressure fuel line connectors are different.
Since you have a 3.1 engine sitting around, I would suggest selling it before it deteriorates any more and saving up the money to either rebuild your 3.0 Ford engine when it needs it, or using it toward buying a Ford 3.0 from a junkyard or the like.
As is quite usual for him, Rockledge surely gave you great advice in his post!
