Where should I move to ?

I'm 20 years old and in college. I live in Annapolis, MD. I'm getting pretty bored here - Annapolis is quickly filling up with a delightful collection of rednecks (not the fun kind; the "I smell poorly, have a 6th grade education, and will punch you in the face for no apparent reason" kind), wannabe upper middle class white "homies" and pretentious "I'd-like-to-think-I-was-rich-but-I-actually-have-$190,000-credit-card-debt" fools. I want to get out, and go somewhere that's more interesting. I've ruled out CA (I grew up there, too crowded), most "backwoods country" states (Kentucky, Tennesee, etc) and Florida (don't ask me why; I don't like it). I'm looking for somewhere that's not too crowded, gets 4 seasons, not too humid summers. I'm not a "simple" person either - I'm not into the whole "live on a farm with one convenience store within 20 miles" scene. Snow is a whole lot of fun.

Is there such a place in the United States?

Where should I move?

Yes, yes, please, is there such a place?

Kinda a contradiction though, a soon as you get enough people to have all the cool shops and stores, you have too many people and gotta move again.

I you don't mind that 90 percent of the population is hippies and liberals, western WA is a nice area. The only catch is you have to drive an hour or so for snow.

Where should I move?

Just something I heard a while ago and have noticed over a few years, there's a lot of truth in it...

Someone was telling another person about how they disliked so much of the stuff and people around them. Seemed like nothing was great and everything and everybody had a lot of faults. It was time to move and make new friends and neighbors. First he decided to contact some people in the area where he planned to move to and ask them about their nieghborhood. He got the most truthful response from an old gentleman...

He asked the newcomer to tell him about the people and things where he was moving from. After hearing about all the problems, he told the young man.... "I think you'll find things just about the same here."

And after a while the nice place he moved to "became" just like where he used to live.

Just something to think about. Best of luck in whatever you do.

Where should I move?

Well, I have given myself 3 more years in Atlanta, Georgia - then its time to leave (actually ready to leave now). I will be going to northern Arizona, southern Colorado. I've been to alot of places in my life, and I seem to keep wanting to get back in that area. You have all four seasons, clean air, and people have personalities that are actually on the positive side (not saying other places do not). Plus, within a half a day's drive from there in any direction, you can do anything you can dream of.
Ocean and the beach - California
Snow skiiing - The Rockies
River rafting - all kinds of places around there
etc...

Since I am a newly wed of a year, and my wife has lived in Atlanta all her life, we have given ourselves 3 years (or before) to get our lives straight, family adjusted to us, and then - BYE BYE...

By the way FXSTC, I love Prescott!!!

Where should I move?

Come to Montana. We need the tax money.

We get all four seasons. Sometimes in the same day.

Actually, it really is beautiful up here, the people are friendly, it's reasonably uncrowded (my commute is 1.8 miles, takes about 2.5 minutes), but there is one huge problem.

no jobs.

But, it's getting there.

most of the midwest is pretty nice and unpretenscious. Colorado has become California Jr. (just moved from there, Colorado native). Wyoming is well, ummm, open. Idaho is pretty, Eastern oregon is great, western oregon is California Jr. Washington is nice.

Enjoy the search.

Where should I move?

How about finishing college and then find a good job.
You sound like you're worrying too much about the things you can't change.

Don't come to Colorado. Please. Bozeman was right. Unless of course you want to come hunt Californians...I could live with that.
It doesn't matter where you go, bro. Everywhere has lots of things that suck along with the things that are great. Here, it's the Californians, in Seattle, it's the suicidal rich kid hippies, in Texas its the good ol' boy republican oil barons....Just go hide under a rock, man. You don't want to live anywhere!

Where should I move?

Just a few observations from a good old Texican.......we do have the rich ole' oil barons ..some are good , some are arrogant , and some are down right nice people.......we have lots of poor mexicans and poor white folks, poor black folks , poor whatever......Texas is fast becoming a very crowded place around the major urban centers....there are lots of little(poor) towns where the lifestyle is still "country" as well as the values , but the job situation is not very good just as you would expect......we have mountains , desert , swamp , coastal beaches , son of a beaches , tidal basins , and whatever you want in your basic topography......depending on where you want too live........my choice as far as living would be in Montana and\or Utah if i decide to ever move........fd

What about North Carolina. We have nice folks, not too many big-shots, and have the beach, hill country, and the mountains.

Where should I move?

I'm partial to Florida, but if you don't mind the cold I'd say a place like New Hampshire or Vermont. They are both nice places, not too crowded, have both country and semi city life and have great skiing, fishing, etc. etc. for outdoors.
