I have read literally hundreds (maybe thousands) of posts regarding the gasket failure and hydrolock on the 97's and some 98's. One post I read a few months ago keeps coming to mind and I don't know if it makes sense or not, but in theory it may make sense. Someone said that when you change your coolant add some Motorcraft pellets or a good quality stop-leak. Theory -- the failure of the gasket begins with a small crack in the gasket part between a coolant passage and an intake passage. Only about a quarter of an inch or so. If the gasket begins to fail at first it is a small seepage through the gasket. If you had stop leak in the coolant could it possibly "plug the leak"? It probably would not permanently fix it, but it might delay the hydolock for a few thousand miles. What do you think??
Not to me, I just don't fully understand the Hydrolock, especially since I own an 01.
And I usually don't post "important information and facts" unless I'm 100% positive on what I'm saying..
So, in other words, Homer barely ever posts sorry but you walked into that one buddy
Dan, in theory what your saying sounds logical. But this problem has existed for so long now and there have been so many thousands of posts and so forth that if it were possible to fix the problem with 'fix a leak', I think it would have come up before. Certainly, it wouldn't HURT to pour some radiator seal into your radiator, but I don't think that anyone here can speculate whether it would be of any benefit or not, which is probably why no one has responded.
Homer and I just happen to be overly nice (and good looking) guys.....but in a masculine way!!!!
