Hey guys......... some of you know, I have been repairing, upgrading my engine for a while now. What started all this was when I went to start truck one morning and was hydrolocked. Discovered oil in coolant, and coolant in oil... Long story short, I tore it all down to the block. Had heads totally rebuilt. Sent injectors and had them upgraded to stage ones. Sent HPOP to upgrade to T500 Terminator. Replaced oil cooler orings. Cut crossmember to remove oil pan and front cover. Discovered Front cover gaskets were leaking. When left head removed, discovered previous owner dropped glow plug tip into rear cylinder on left bank. (piston kinda banged up) Have been trying to start engine (no luck yet) with no water in system... filled coolant system with water. Engine hydrolocked again. Removed glow plug in left rear cylinder, cranked engine... blew water everywhere.... This water has gotten in there with no pressure whatsoever on system. Cap not even installed.. Gravity flow only... Cracked cylinder wall? I can see no other possibility
That glow plug may have cracked the cylinder wall and it may need a sleeve. That sucks if that is the problem. Maybe drain the coolant and do a compression test on all the cylinders to make sure. Hopefully it is something else.
Well, my worst suspicions have been confirmed. Drained most of the water. Pressurized the system to 15 psi. This is the view down the injector hole...... see bubbles? Can you say "cracked cylinder wall"?
I guess now I need to find a block, or see about having this one sleeved.. CRAP!!!
Just bolted newly rebuilt heads on, new gaskets, new bolts. haven't even started yet. The pic is looking down into the cylinder through the injector cup. The piston is down a couple inches. The bubbles are coming up from around / beside the piston.
