Hello
I have another weird problem my truck seems to be running away when I press the clutch or take it out of gear. i checked and it is doing it at normal operating temp. (190) when i unplug the rear connector on the injector pump the idle drops back to normal after a few seconds. I also unpluged the cold temp selonoid and that also helps. any ideas what is causing my problems?
I think it is inside the pump when i pull the plug the RPMs dropped but not totaly to normal. i tapped on the pump and it went down the rest of the way. Any ideas how to fix it?
So when it is warmed up to normal temp, use a test light to see if you have voltage to the timing advance (back wire right side looking from front) or to the fast idle solenoid.
If you do then you need a new temp sensor down under the alternator by the thermostat.
If you do not, then you need to take it to a diesel injection shop for some pump work.
Is it running away or is it just revving up to a higher rpm and staying there?running away is when the engine keeps revving up and sucks the oil out of the crankcase to keep running and the only way to stop it is to stop the air supply. My teacher in school saw a tank run away and somone tryed stoping the air by butting a 4 or 5'' manual over the intake but it just sucked a hole through the center of the manual.
I pulled the plug on the rear connector and it is still revving high when i tap on the pump housing near the connector the RPMs drop down to normal. so i am looking at rebuilding the pump? there is also a little ware on the accelerater rod but i know that is not causing the problem.
