Transmission swap
I have a 93 4 door DRW 7.3, it has a 5 speed, but im going to change over to automatic? trying to make a list of what i will need, anyone want to help me out? Id appreciate it, I want to be able to do it over a weekend, tools arent an issue, just want to have everything ready to swap, are the starters the same for the 2 transmissions? Will the new transmission need any computer operation? because of course the truck has no computer, also im going to use a floor shift so the column wont be an issue, my truck has a 4.10 in it, can someone who has a 4.10 1993 model with an automatic please tell me the tranny code so i pick up the right one? thanks so much for all the help, great forum!!!! If you want an overdrive tranny (E4OD) you'll need to wire up a computer and some sensors on the engine to run it. If you want a 3 speed you could go for a C-6, but it will need a gear ratio change to 3.55 if you do a lot of hiway driving.
