ratsmoker, I remember seeing a thread a long time ago on the Edelbrok heads. if I remember right you said the 60069 heads already have the oil restrctors built in to them for the rocker shaft. and also what about the oil drain back holes? do they need to be driled out or are they good to go as is? I ordered a set today. what is the procedure for remearuing for the push rod length? and did you ever get your erson rocker set up? I am looking at the harlad sharp units. 770.00 dollars from summit racing. but that is the complete install kit. stands and all. what do you or any one else think. looking for some feed back before I spend a lot more money.
To be honest, I don't know what mods are or are not done to the Edelbrocks. I can tell you, though, that mine have been functioning fine for the last 1000 miles. With my setup....No deck change on the block and with Edelbrock heads, my pushrod length remained the same.
As far as the Ersons: They are very user friendly. I had to grind the washers that came with my stud kit, and I have had to re-tighten them a few times. In general, however, they are solid and have held up to my driving thus far. I'll let you know how they do after I get to the track on the 29th.
thanks for the feed back to both of you. FFR428, I asume you mean the oil drain back holes? and to Theimpaler, so you replaced the rocker set with the Erson unit. did it come as a complete set up or did you have to get the rocker stands seperatly? were you able to use the stock push rods or did you buy the ball cup type to go with the Erson unit?
You need to get ball/cup pushrods for the ersons. I recommend you take the ersons apart and clean them thoroughly before using on your motor. Mine were full of metal chips when I got them from DSC. The erson stand/end support piece required a very small amount of grinding to clear ARP head bolts. Also, the ball/cup pushrods that DSC offers for use with the ersons are not the greatest quality. The cups have a poor finish and have galled the adjusters on my rockers. I would get the length from DSC and order some quality comp pushrods. Other than these issues the ersons work great. You do not need stands. The ersons have special stands with end supports built in. I'm running iron heads and restricted the oil with a plug in each head drilled with a single 1/32" hole. Did alot of experimenting and any larger of a hole caused excessive oil in the head. The rockers still get plenty of oil. Good luck
thanks for the INFO. sounds like the Erson units are OK. I'll give summit a call tomorow and see what they cost. here in Po Dunk NC. you just about have to order in every thing.
