comp cam question...

it the pro comp. 268 a good cam to put in my 80 I6 to get good low and mid range power increase? if not what is recomended? i was going with crane until all that stuff came out. or would yall try it any way?

i got my crane cam recently (same one as 50buck described) and didnt have any problem with it...but and grind in the 260-270 area is fine.

hey optikal, does that came you have in your truck, can you hear it at idle ? like tell its their?

ok but i was just talking about the siting still idle sound, does it not run yet?

The number that REALLY matters with cams is the intake duration at .050" lift.

Optikal's crane is 204.
The comp cam you're looking at is 218. That's a huge difference. I think that's a little too big for a 300 looking for low end.

If you're after a comp cam, (which isn't a bad thing, I like them), look at their "260" grind. It has a 212 duration. You'll hear it at idle, especially with headers and a fairly open exhaust, but it won't sound like a drag car, by any means. It'll have decent low end, and a snappy midrange.
