it the pro comp. 268 a good cam to put in my 80 I6 to get good low and mid range power increase? if not what is recomended? i was going with crane until all that stuff came out. or would yall try it any way?
The number that REALLY matters with cams is the intake duration at .050" lift.
Optikal's crane is 204.
The comp cam you're looking at is 218. That's a huge difference. I think that's a little too big for a 300 looking for low end.
If you're after a comp cam, (which isn't a bad thing, I like them), look at their "260" grind. It has a 212 duration. You'll hear it at idle, especially with headers and a fairly open exhaust, but it won't sound like a drag car, by any means. It'll have decent low end, and a snappy midrange.
