Oil question
I have a couple of questions and my local Ford dealer has not been honest with me in the past. So before I go to them with my "possible" problems, I figured I'd ask up here.
I have a 2003 F-250 Powerstroke 7.3. The last two times I changed my oil, it seems as though that I am low in oil. I change it at 5000 miles or less. But when I am getting rid of the used oil by pouring it back in my oil containers, I seem to be about 3 Qts. shy on oil. I spill a bit and I am sure that the oil filter still has a good amount left in it, as well as the engine, but does that seem unusual or has anyone eles had this problem? And I am not hauling any major weight around.
The other thing I have been noticing is that every once in a while I hear a soft buzzing noise. It isn't awlays audible, but when I hear it, I can't figure out what it is. However, when I step on the brake pedal harder and harder, it increases in volume. Checked my fluids and they are normal. Now I am not sure if this is related to the buzzing noise or not, but when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, I hear and slightly feel a thump just under the floor board on the driver side. Are both of these noises related, seperate issues or am I just worrying too much? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
I am concerned about going to my dealer first because last two times I took my old F-150 in there, it was returned with bigger problems. One being that my truck was hit on the side while in their possesion and they tried to deny it.
Thanks for all your help.
As for the buzz, I'm guessing here; possible that it's the vacuum pump that supplies the brake system vacuum.
I won't even guess on the thump while turning... I'll leave that one to someone with the same year truck as yours (or at least the same front end structure).
Last but not least, pick another Ford dealer for any future work. I'd think you could find an honest one in the Chicago area.
