You getting rid of your Red truck?

The Wife won't leave me alone about selling my 82 4x4. My son moved out a few months ago (He has his 2000 Superduty 4x4, Powerstroke), it only gets driven ocassionally. So I guess I will get rid of it and take a beating on it just to make her leave me alone. You never get out of them what you invest.

Superdave, Its good to hear from you. Yes I think I will get rid of it and get a shortbed 1/2 ton with a 300 i6 I cannot stop driving it and it just cost to much to drive daily I looked at putting a 300 I6 in it at the cost of aprox 2k-2.5k so I think its time. I know what you mean about getting out of them what you have in them I have 12.5k in mine and I am looking to get 8k out of it.

You will NEVER get what you put into a truck.. My '89 F150 is a total mess - dents in it, house paint spatter baked onto the right side, the hood is peeling and messy, the fender is dented, and the bed is partially bedlinered..

I just spent over $4,000 on restoring the engine and running gear. Must be totally mad. The truck is probably only worth $2,500, if that.

Well the 82 is gone. No more 460 nothing. Word of mouth was all it took to sell it.

Hope the wife will be happy now. But to be real, it hardly got drove anymore. A young fellow bought it. He works at the local Autozone. And he does not have far to drive it. So his gas won't eat him up. And he's coming out of a early 80's, carbed 302. So needless to say the lightly tweaked 460 put a big smile on his face.

Dave, Sorry for your Loss. I have had a boatload of people look at mine and stop me to ask price but no soild offers. There have been the ones who want me to give it away but I won't do that. When you can buy a 1/2 ton that looks as good as mine for half the price it tends to make people think its overpriced but sorry its one of the best Ford made from the factory but people don't know that.I knew what i was buying when i bought it.So if its not gone here in a couple of days I am going to pull it in and swap out the four barrel and intake and put back on the stock setup and see what I can get the mileage up to.

I hear you on people wanting you to give the vehicles away.

If memory serves me right you have a rare option package with your truck.

What axles do you have? Does everything work? Hows the oil pressure hot?
There is alot of factors that deterine value? If you can figure out how to post pics I will help.
Thanks Wayne

Superdave, Yes my truck has the snofighter package which includes
Dual 60's
4500lb front axle
dual trac lok
dual sway bars
high out put heater
And ive got a grill guard that I have only seen on one other truck but I cannot document that it is factory.
I have letters from Ford on my truck
It is missing the side tank and a few dents and scatches or I would be asking alot more for it.
I think Ive decided to detune it and put the stock intake and carb on it and see what I can get the mileage up to.Then just keep it.
