You mean the 15 grille bars or the grille panel? Grille bars can be bought brand new, usually in chrome, but in raw steel from some places. The grille panel I have seen on eBay a few times.
46fordtruck, I believe so. It's a '46 truck, I guess it was before F series so I dont know what model to call it. The whole grille is missing and I'm just wondering if they are still around and about how much would a decent one be? Aren't they Ivory in color?
The whole grille? The grille is made up 15 grille bars. Each individually bolted to the grille panel. As I mentioned, thses are easy to get in reproduction form, although they are of only fair quality, vast majority seem to be made in Taiwan. If you mean the entire grille panel, the part where the headlights are mounted in, and goes between the fenders, then that is only available used. Check eBay for them, it's your best bet. Hard to say what you should expect to pay for one. I have seen NOS ones sell for $500+, but a good used one, maybe between $100-$200.
Yes, originally the bars were painted a color called Tacoma Cream, as was the hood latch pieces and hood side trim. These trucks don't have a model designation that Ford used, like F series, they were referred to as Commercial vehicles for the 1/2 tons.
Cool, thanks for the good info. Well, then I guess it is just the grille that I need. Just the part where the radiator goes. Do the aftermarket bars your talking about come painted that correct color or unpainted?
Most all come chrome plated, but restoretrucks.com does list them in plain steel i believe. These parts are not sold painted, you will have to paint them yourself, or have them powder coated. Last I heard from somebody, Tacoma Cream is available in powder coat, but not always easy to get.
Awesome, I'll have to look around and see what I can get! I'll probably try and get original used stuff. So if they are just bars then shipping wont be $ huh.
