Me Speedometer is reading wrong please help!
I have a brand new 03 ranger edge. I just installed the nuimage flameglo gauges for the 98-02 ranger models. It matched perfectly in the installation. And didnt mess with any of the wiring. But now I have noticed, like most rangers the speedometer starts off at ten mph. But lately my truck seems slower than what my speedometer reads, so I had some one pace me twice and my speedometer said 35 while theres said 25, then again mine was at 40 and theres about 35. So I had a cop clock me in a parking lot going 30 the whole distance. His radar clocked me at 18-20. What is the deal, is it becuase my model comes with big tires (thats what my friend said) or Did i mess up the calibration? I didnt really screw with anything I wasnt supposed to.
if I take it to the dealership could they fix it? If so would it cost? Is it covered by my bumper to bumper warranty? Should I put the factory gauges back in? Someone please help.

If you took off the needles on the gauges then yes, you did screw up the calibration. I have heard of people removing the speedo needle and then driving down the road at 35 miles/hr with a buddy in another car next to him do 35 mph. Then they just snap on the needle at the 35 mph mark on the speedo and the speedo is calibrated. I wouldn't do it because I would probably run into the guy next to me.....

Larger tires (higher aspect ratio) will cause the speedo to read LOWER than you are actually traveling ... vise versa with lower profile tires. Doesn't sound like your tires are your problem.
