Don't get me wrong, I love my Ford truck. But, I can't find a Ford guy I can root for in the Chase For The Cup. I am a big Dale Jr. fan. What do you think about Jr. decals, logos, and the Big 8 on a Ford Truck?
ROFLMFAO!!!!! Yeah, and you could top it all off with the chevy (spit) bowtie on the hood. If I were gonna sticker up a Ford truck, I think I'd go with a Ford race car.
Actually there are several great ones in NASCAR. Although I am a big Jr fan I also think Jarrett, Mark Martin, Kurt Busch, and the other Ford guys are pretty awesome and I pull for them to.
One thing a lot of folks don't realize is that the Fords, Chevs, Pontiacs, Dodges, etc in NASCAR really don't have much in common with the manufactured rigs on the street. They each have a block and heads (mostly based on the desing of the 1960's) from the manufacturer and aftet that the similarity with the cars ends. Chassis, drive train, engine internals, and so on are not related to the manufacturer. Body shapes are also almost unrecognizeable except for general grill area design. The only real similarity to production vehicles is the logo decals.
That's why I can be comfortable being a Ford owner and supporter at home and on the street, and still favor a racer even though he has the wrong logo on the hood. It is a little sad in a way. Back in the early days of NASCAR they actually took production cars and just beefed em up. Then you could really root for your favorite manufacturer and the driver. If the NASCAR drivers racing with the Chevy emblem today really had to use Chevy produced vehicles they probably couldn't finish a race.
BTW- had one Chevy truck about twenty years ago. That was the last time I will try that. The first NEW vehicle I ever owned was a 1968 F-100 straight six with three speed and it was one of the best vehicles I have ever owned.
I do long for the "old" days where the car actually had to resemble the street version. I'm starting to believe that they could call themselves "NAAR" because there's nothing stock about these "stock cars".
If you like Jr, then put a #8 on your truck. Support who YOU like. There are a few Ford drivers I like, but my 2 fav drivers drive Chevys, Tony Stewart and Bobby Labonte.
i think anything but a ford drive number looks bad on a ford truck. but hey to each their own and i cant control that. i am brand loyal so as long as a ford driver wins its all good with me.
go on and put the #8 on your truck. i am a big JR fan, but i also pull for kirt bush(97) and matt kenseth(17). i think that who ever you pull for then put them on your truck
Well first off, there isn't difference in the chassis these days. Ford, chevy, pontiacs, and dodges are all the same....
It comes down to the hood, roof, and trunk lid when talking about bodywork/aerodynamics.
Also you have more of an advantage with shocks and your tires than anything else!
Chassis has nothing to do with it anymore. They aren't racing streetcars like they were back in the day, so you can't say that one is better than the other. It is just a NAME, thats it!!! A ford racecar is nothing like a ford streetcar. Ah, I hate this misconception!
