door locks

door locks

my door locks on my cc psd are not working properly. they don't open or close half of the time. this all started with just the driver's door, now they are all malfunctioning. any info?

it is the power lock actuator. very common for the 250's.run u about $42 per door

Yep, you'll have to get new lock actuators, and tear the door apart to get to them and replace it. Once you figure out how to pull the old one out, the others will be easier. I did mine not too long ago, just like new again.

Ahhh! I thought maybe I was going to be lucky enough to just have to clean some corroded connectors! Now I know what I have to look forward to....

I have done all 4 of mine. There a pain to get out if you have a 99 or newer. The first one was a pain cause I tried to baby it out of there. Well the easiest way is to just snap the retaining tab right off the broken unit. once you do that you can remove the old one but you still have to remove the tab that broke off the actuator. Just get a long screwdriver or I used a 24 inch 1/2 extension from my ratchet set and just pry the old one and it will snap out of there. Putting the new one back in takes all of 45 seconds if that. By the way Ford redesigned the new style cause of all the problems with the old ones.
