I've got a buddy that's looking for the specs on a specific paint job that he said was available in '78 & '79. I'm trying to help him with the online part of his search and I'm hoping someone here can help.
He described the paint to me as a "red panel on a black truck." ( I know it's a crappy description but it is what I have to go on). He's also led me to believe that it is a fairly unique setup, hence the reason he wants measurements and such so that he can accurately duplicate it. Do you guys know what he might be referrring to? I've seen mentions to a "tu-tone" style but I don't know if that is it.
Thanks for the replay but now he tells me (don't you love helping people..... like me..... that don't have all of the info) that he meant that it was "rainbow" colored. Any ideas?

Reason: incomplete sentence.
I think your correct "bull", I looked in my 1977 sales brochure and it looks like the only rainbow paint I see. I will try to get a picture in my gallery tomorrow of the brochure picture for you guys to see. -Ed
Thanks guys.... I have to say that I don't exactly care for that package but he thinks it's great.... I guess that's why there is chocolate and vanilla....
I have a 77 f-250 highboy with two tone paint. It uses moldings to break up the paint color changes. As far a paint codes black is just black, and the reds that were used on the early fords were either ragoon red or candy apple red. If you'd like a picture of my truck I could attatch one. Let me know.
I have posted a couple of pics in my gallery from the 1977 sales brochure of the "Free Wheeling" package with the rainbow stripes. Check them out. Sorry about the blur in pic #2. -Ed
