My LF body mount (under driver foot) is creaking like mad and I'm sick of it!! I tried doing a search to find the exact cause of the noise (dirt between the mounts, dry or cracked mounts, etc), but I've come up with no solid answers. I've already removed the bolt from the mount, and drenched it from above, and below, with WD-40 (solution from the Excursion forum). WD-40 fix worked for a day, and now it's back, and its even worse. Should I just replace the whole body mount??
Lithium grease really PO'ed the mounts, they're creaking more now than ever! Ford wants $75 & change for ONE set of upper & lower mounts, Rocky Mountain Suspensions (PN:KF04014) wants $104 for a complete set of poly body mounts, should I get red, or black mounts. . .choices, choices.
On a side note, why do some dealership parts guys have major attitude problems?? Geez, the parts man I dealt with was a rude, condescending, arrogant twit! I've dealt with some GREAT parts guys, but they seem few & far between these days, the guy today just really got my goat!
I have used poly bushings in suspension and they creak like heck. I would expect the same for body bushings as well. On a side note. WD-40 is a penetrant not a lubricant. It's an acid meant to free things up but offers no lubrication qualitys other then when it is wet. Good for freeing up rusty stuff...thats about it. Try a name brand silicone spray, that will proboly be your best bet other than replacing the mount
