Forced induction for the bulletproof beat.

Forced induction for the bulletproof beast.

I posted in the turbo sticky, i guess no one wanted to read 4 pages of BLAH!
let me know if you guys think this could work.
I was thinking about turboing before i started thinking about a 351. If i was gonna stay with my 6, and turbo it. Id buy some headers from cliffordswatever, and mount the turbo in a custom box down there at the end of the headers under the truck. There, i am well out of the engine compartment, with easy ventilation for the turbo, as well as closer access to the oil pan and oh... whats that called, cold dense air. From there I would fabricate a custom intake off the boost side of the turbo and run 2 or 3 decent size hoses that are rated up to 90 PSI back to the engine compartment, to a custom cold air intake which is made out of steel rather than stock rubber bendable crap, and run the hoses around the custom intake so that they blow thru at an angle of like 10 degrees, IE

(A) (B) (C)
Then on the bottom id mount 2 or 3 butterfly valves on extrusions (see pic) alowing me to place blow off valves in the intake. The B valve (5 PSI) would be standard driving, while the C valve (5-12 PSI) would be an adjustable for my weekend trips to the strip, and would be whatever max is before knocking. The A valve (1 PSI) is there to return for stock under towing conditions or incase the turbo gets to hot on a scorhing july day here in alabama. The 1 PSI may be mounted in box itself, which would let the turbo free spin, while still not great for the turbo, its alot easier than it pressurizing lines. As for the EFI programming, im at a loss for words and could use some help from you guys. Its 2:05 AM and ive been working for like... EVER! so im not sure if im leaving anything out. If i am, let me know.

Also an idea for a supercharger on the stock intake would be custom turbine that is like a spiral in a straight steel tube that replaces 1 of the intakes, and spins somehow, eiter electric motor or a belt off the motor ( off the motor would take more work). This would allow air to travel thru the other stock intake tube ( since there are 2 from the air fileter) when at idle, and then when throttle is added, the supercharger adds more power in a blowthru fasion.

a third idea (i just thought of at work (ARbyS!) for simplifying the underhood valves by removing the need to have a "return to stock" blow off valve) for a turbo, and some added performance based on above system. Buy the dual out headers from cliffordswatever, and run through a street legal system, loud or watever you want. Then buy a pair of electric race readies, (ive seen them for 360 (pair with mounting and electronics). Have them both dump into a single tube slightly larger than the ones installed on the headers, and into a turbo, and follow the above instructions for returning pressure to the engine. Now... you have a 3 inch exhuast flange( or something around that size) off the turbo, take it, and add a third race ready, the straight thru part goes thru a Y pipe and back into the stock exhaust system before the mufflers on either side, while the secondary tube is an open pipe. This whole system would add the weight of 1 muffler (say 20 LBs) and maybe 10 lbs or tubing, and the wiehgt of 3 race readies, say 10 a peice, 60 pounds, and allows you to have a plain street legal exhaust system, a running turbo with street legal exhaust system, and a turbo for drag racing/ scaring the hell outa people system. And how many turbo systems allow you to return to stock after instilation? , especially at the flip of a switch, so say you wanna tow something, and you notice that turbo is getting hot, CUT IT OUT!

That setup looks awesome... I was thinking about a remote system but the only thing I wonder about is the oil return... Do ya need a seperate pump to bring the oil back to the pan? I like the idea about the electric dump valves to shut the turbo off and return to a stock type system.... I've been kicking the turbo idea around since i got the truck and it's looking more inviting as time goes on... I already have two small turbos from 2 liter motors. If I go with it, I think I'll mount the turbos under my toolbox in the front of the bed, it's just about wasted space anyways.. That would take care of the issue of the oil return and the underhood temp.. I'm not really concerned with turbo-lag mainly 'cause it's a truck. It will never see any time at any track other than pulling the car trailer to the track.. I was also told by my co-workers that it's pointless to turbo an EFI 300 and that I am an idiot for even thinking of such a stupid idea... That just makes me want to do it even more .
