Hey guys,
I'm trying to drop the oil pan on my 300 but it just won't come down. It's in an 86 F-150, and I've got a crossmember in the way of bringing it straight down.
I would really appreciate being able to get the pan down to where I can work on it since I've got to install a new gasket onto it.
You need to let loose the drivers side motor mount, tranny mount & exhaust - then rock the motor over to get more space. Some let loose both mounts and jack up the whole engine.
well I can only sugest take the bolts out of the motor mounts take the two nuts off the trans mount hopefully youre exuast will not have to be lose but try first if got a pully or host would be my first choice if not get hydrolic jack lift from front pully carefully also had to turn the crank so the pan could come off done three ford 5.0 and plenty of dodges and chevy's do not like double sump pans on 5.0 what a headach well my 300 is an 1980 and it does not look like a double sump so enjoy remeber relax if you get mad and fight it it takes forever and then you will be leaking make sure the seals fit had fun with mine have fun
All I did was take the two motor mount bolts off, and stuck a botle jack on the front pully.... had to jack it up quite a ways, the exaust pipes have to give a bit, and as far as I could tell, it did not hurt the trans mount.
listen don't rockit you can damage a hole lot of stuff the hose's should be fine but if you are going to lift it you should check for any thing that is going to get snaged or broke like wire's and maybe the top hose you need to lift it really high to get the pan off so jack or lift should do the trick
