I just bought a 160 amp alternator. On the auction it said -
"A four gauge power cable is required for proper battery maintenance. The new power cable is available from us custom made to fit, $25.00 extra. This cable is professional grade with commercial crimped terminals and heat shrink tubing to protect the integrity of the connection. The entire cable is protected with split loom."
First of all, I can make the same thing myself for a couple of bucks.
But what are they talking about? It is not a "one wire" alternator. Do they mean the positive cable going from the battery to the starter relay? What size are battery cables anyway? They look at least 4 gauge anyway.
Sorry, that's not working. The item number is 7927088005.
It has what looks like a square plug on each end. Maybe it replaces the factory plug going to the alternator? Aren't those bad anyway? I suppose that I should order the wire then. I don't have the ends to make one of those.

I already purchased the one on eBay. The dealer is legit, I spoke to them on the telephone, and they have excellent eBay feedback. Actually they are the makers of the alternators. The part also has a warranty, and as I said, they are made here in the USA and you can speak to a real live human being if you call them, an American guy to boot. I paid $134 for a 160 amp alternator and $25 for the harness. I'll let you know how they work after I get it all installed.
Jbronco, I bought the same alternator about a week ago. They were good to buy from. I just called the shop and ordered it directly. I decided to order the wire harness from the ford fuel injection site though. It costs a little more money, but his set up is real nice with fuse and oem connectors too. I'm actually going to order it next week.

I just looked at that one. It looks nice! What did I order then? I thought that I got the same thing. Is there anything wrong with the one I got? I can always switch them.
The alternator came today, but I am waiting on the cable to install it.
I installed a 3G about 6 months ago, u need a metal grinder to properly install the alt. The mounting braket on ur bronco will hit the alt because of the alt being bigger.
All u have to do is cut a small 1"x1" block out of the braket. No pics, sorry but, when u go to install it, u will see it. It's a little part of the braket that just kinda cuts the corner from edge to edge.
