automatic locking front hubs
I recently purchased a 1988 Bronco II with the Touch Drive System. It appears that the plastic (nylon??) cam assemblies in the front hubs need to be replaced. Ford apparently doesn't sell this part (1AO53) by itself any longer. Does anyone here know of a source for this part? Is there a problem if you drive the vehicle with the old cam assemblies apart from no 4 wheel drive? Any suggestions on manual hubs? Corrosion resistance is a major factor for me since I live on the Gulf coast.
Thanks,

I would Highly recommend a Warn Manual hub. They offer several models varying in price and aesthetics, but the core of the manual is good steel parts. I destroyed my autohubs off-roading and the warn hubs fit in nicely and take a good beating. I live in central Pennsylvania, so Corrosion resistance is a big concern with the heavy use of road salts in the winter. The standard Warn replacement has a nice plastic covered outer housing and will only sink you around 80 bucks a piece pluss a 12-16 dollar converter. They still work with the electronic shift, you just need to remember to lock them in before you go 4 wheelin..
