Recently I've done some changes with the look of the tailgate. I got tired of looking at that silver panel and driving a "FOR_". I pulled the panel, but you couldn't see the "FORD" letters. Today I painted around the letters with Dupli-color bed coating. I'd like to know what you all think. Thanks.
Thanks. I did get a little crooked on some of the letters, but you can't really tell from a distance. I masked them off, then trimmed with a utility knife. Not the best way to do it, but it worked. I figure I can always touch it up later on.
I washed the truck today and it actually kept its shine. I waxed it with Meguires a couple weeks ago. I used to use Turtle wax and it would always haze over if I washed it. I'll never use Turtle wax again.
FYI, I recently tossed a badly rotted tailgate from my '89, you know the ones with the "F O R D" stamped in big letters. I guy at work scavanged it from the scrap steel hopper, cut out the "F O R D" part and fit and welded it to the front inside wall of the bed on his '74.
I had no idea that the silver cover actually covered the stamped FORD insignia.
It looks really cool with the lettering in the same color as the truck and the area around it black. Very cool! Does saying cool make me officially old?
