wires...

I just purchased a 1994 turbo diesel, F350 CC Dually. I have noticed a three prong plug hanging by the crankcase and a one prong plug hanging by the fuel filter. Does anyone know what they go to? I have also have been occasionally been having a starting problem. Are glow plugs needed when warm? Twice since I bought it, it has cranked excessively, once warm, and once cold. Any ideas?

Glow plugs will cycle every time you start your engine on the IDI motor.

Is the three prong plug by the crank case like an extension cord male plug?
It could be the block heater cord chopped off short or bundled up by the heater.
Block heaters are usually in the side of the engine block by the starter.
You will see a row of three holes, two will have soft plugs in them, the other will have the block heater in it. The last hole to the back is hard to see because it is behind the starter. About half of the block heaters are in that hole.

On the 94 there are a couple of sensors and a fuel heater located in the filter housing.
Fuel heater wire plugs into the top of the housing.
Filter restriction is in the side by the outlet.
Water in fuel sensor is in the bottom plate by the drain valve.

the three prong plug is a female, slightly out of line with each other, accepting a round pin. There are two wires going to the top of the filter, and I cannot find one on the bottom yet...

the wires going to the fuel filter are all hooked back up, and it turns out that there is no block heater on my truck, so I bought one today and will be putting it on soon. If you need any help with yours, i can help, although I do not have a digital camera.
