Hard Starting
I have a 2001 Excursion with the 5.4L. This past weekend, I had a hard time getting it started. It cranked over but wouldn't fire. I tried this a few times then it started fine and ran fine for the rest of the weekend. But then today it did the same thing again. I've been reading the forums about the IAC valve but every time I see something written about it, it says that the truck idles rough and you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep it running. I don't have that problem...yet. Can my problem still be the IAC?

my mom's crown vic had an IAC that would stick and the car wouldn't start. She would take her little tack hammer and give it a rap and you could hear the plunger break loose. Get back in and stated up everytime. I took her's off and cleaned the heck out of it. If your truck does it again see if you can hear the fuel pump running when you turn on the ignition could be a relay contact or a pump going out. Just my $.02
