I am new to the 4WD scene but have a lot of experience with Fords in general and Mustangs in particular.
I just purchased a '96 Bronco with a 351 and was looking to change the gears from 3.55's to 4.10's. I have learned in some of my research that my Bronco does not have a limited slip rear end and that a limited slip is in fact an option.
Why would a 4WD vehicle not have limited slip differentials? If I add a traction-lok unit to the rear end should I also add a unit to the front axle?
The primary use of the Bronco will be a daily driver with some light off-roading. I was just thinking that while I was changing gears I might as well add the traction-lok unit.
some just didnt come with them. why are you going to 4.10? you lifting , running bigger tires? putting one in both ends would be a good idea for hwy use and light 4x4n
The previous owner put some 32 x 11.50's on it so the gears would help. I will probably be replacing them with a smaller tire anyway. I'm looking for better acceleration. I'm way to used to my Mustang. It runs the quarter in 12.38 @ 109mph.
Any thoughts on what type of limited slip unit I should use for the front?
get good quality. im not a fan of fords design it fails to often. detroit and auburn make some good quality parts. going to th 4.10's and a 31" tire should take care of exceleration needs
