Bucking Bronco

I have an 86 Bronco II, Under moderate to hard acceleration the engine starts to accelerate, then begins bucking. If I lift the throttle back to a very light acceleration, it runs normally. It feels like it is starving for gas. I have replaced, both fuel pumps, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator and it still occurs. Any other suggestions?

If you havent fixed it yet, try this out. Cost: $0.00.

Could be the data in the 'puter got messed up.

With engine cold, remove the battery cable for a minute or two, then put it back on. This will clear the memory back to factory default.

Start the engine and let run at idle for at least 15 minutes, or longer till the idle speed stabilizes. Do not touch the gas pedal!

Believe it or not, this has fixed an identical problem more than once. Also good for rough idle (clean the throttle body on EFI first), and sometimes fixes erratic shifting of an AT.

Works great on all other Fords, too!

BTW... Whenever you disconnect or drain the batt. on a computerized Ford, always idle the motor to allow the 'puter to recalibrate.

I had the same problem with my 86 bII twice though, the ground wire running to the computer and fuel injectors corroded causing the engine to buck violently, and the other time the power wire going to the ignition switch did the same thing. the wire to the injectors should be near the battery and the wire going to the ignition switch is on the drivers side near the coolant reservior, it should be yellow.
