Any Eagle Scouts?
Luckily as an adult I came around. I have 3 boy's, 14, 11, and 9. The oldest has 2 more merit badges to go and an Eagle Project. He loves it. We try to push him as much as possible without making him feel like we are forcing the issue. A little bit of incentive alway's helps at times! (I hope he doesn't think he's getting the Supercab!)The 11 year old has been in the troop about 6 months and seems to be enjoying it very much. The 9 year old is a first year Webelo and on his way.
As for me, the guy who was a workaholic, never had enough time to get involved. I was convinced to become a co-den leader for our 11 year old! After that I somehow volunteered to be the Committe Chairman of a troop of about 35 boy's. Have done so for the past 3 years. As I look back I will be forever grateful to those people who got me involved. To look at my boy's grow, be a part of it, it doesn't get any better. Get involved in your son/daughter's childhood.
My wife is the Den leader for our 9 year old's den and treasurer for the pack. I'm still the Quartermaster.
Oh Yeah. There's our 3 year old daughter who's in charge of it all. I geuss I'll finish up with the Girl Scouts. Don't know if I can handle that one!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to your son and your family. It's quite an accomplishment for any young man!!
i had to join the sea cadets... it was either them or one of those christian boarding schools where they spank you with paddles
wasn't all bad though... learned how to sail... went camping in the mountains in the middle of winter and cooked wild rabbit... killing and skinning a rabbit by the way is not at all like in the cartoons
oh for all you dads out there with boys in the program, id suggest becoming an assistant scout master, me and my 4 best friends in our troop all had our fathers involved, good way for dads to spend time with their sons.
