im going to attempt to do my first paint job on my truck pretty soon and a 78 trans am down the road . my question is do i really need a diffrent gun for clear and base or can i use the same one.
You don't really need two for the most part usually it is just very convient. If you clean your gun very well between switching you should be allright. I did a lot of very nice paint jobs with one gun.
But after about the 3rd I decided to get a primer gun cause you can use a cheap gun on primer and it is one less thing to worry about getting cross-contamination.
I also have a clearcoat gun and basecoat gun now, the reason I need one was when I started to House of Kolro Kandy paint jobs the flash time between last coat of Kandy to clearcoat was faster than I could properly clean the gun and set it up for clear so it was neccissity. Also I like to run different size air caps for base and clearcoat instead of cranking the control flow up and down.
thanks alot ill use one at first and then go to two . my cousin is a painter and he uses three devilbiss pluses. clear, solid base, and metalic base. thats the ultament set up .
