code 1504

i have a 97 ford f150 4x4 4.6 i have scaned the computer and found a code of p1504 does anyone know what this means.

P-1504 is "idle air control circuit malfunction" Take a look at the "Read first IAC repair help" at the top of the Explorer forum.

i have changed the iac valve and i still have the problem. i was told that code 1504 was the iat sensor Intake air temperature sensor it runs rough and i am getting alot of black soot on the plugs it also has no power.

Sounds like an open in the wiring to the IAC. If i remember correctly that link at the explorer forum will tell you how to test the wiring also.

The P-1504 only affects the idle. If this was my truck, i'd pull the codes again & check the fuel pressure. If it runs better at wide open throttle, it might be a bad O-2 sensor.
