i read a article some time back about running a oil line from the front of the engine to the back to help with oil pressure on the rear bearings. now i ca't remember where it was does anyone know of that article and where its at
I don't know about the article you are asking about but there are several around I am sure, but if all you are looking for is how you remove the plug from the block right above the oil filter, and put in a fitting there, then on the back of the block right behind the intake manifold is where the oil preasure sending unit is. and you put in a tee there with one side going to the oil preasure gauge, and the other to the line going to the fitting you just put in on the front., I prefer to use braided line, and fittings as they are stronger, and don't rub through the stainless line.
You can also use 1/2" steel tubing. Any local hydraulics shop should be able to make one for you. Installing it before you drop the engine in or bolt up the manifold or header is easiest.
thanks for the help thats what i needed, but one more thing do i run it up and over or down under the header then back up to the top of the engine. thanks in advance
I ran mine up, and over the intake, well actually under the main part of the intake but I was running a funnelweb, but most of them run it over the intake along the edge next to the heads.
There are some pictures in my gallery of the bypass I made for my 400. The pics are pretty clear since the engine is on the stand. A few AN fittings and some power steering hose is what I used.
Keep it away from the header/manifold heat. Remember that you have to work around it to pull valve covers etc. You don't want it in the way. I think steel or even SS tube looks nice and professional AN fittings look great. 3/8" line would be OK also. I just like to relieve restriction as much as possible. If you use rubber hose remember to change it in ~5 years.
thanks guys you all are a great help. i'll run it over the top with some 3\8 stainless steel line since i work in a machine shop. thanks again for all your help. your great.
