lifters

At that mileage the lifters are worn & need replacing. I would also consider rebuilding the engine with those miles. Bearings, cylinders etc. are all worn.

I'm thinking I need to rebuild my engine, but I don't have money for that.

My 88 with 140000 does the same thing. I've also tried thicker oil to no avail, guess it's time to replace them.

i have read many many post about loud lifters mine does the same thing. runs like a raped ape but sounds like sewing machine....

i have a 3.8 v6 (1996) in my minivan and it is quite as a kitten and has more miles than my b2 ('86)...

i have tightened my lifters,(helped) used thicker and even thinner oil ,motor honeys and a variety of snake oils.....

is this something that these 2.9 are just gonna do?????

i heard of people doing a modification to get more oil to the top of the motor but it looks complicated. is it worth it? will this banging eventual break it??????
