Electrical / General info

Hey guys...

First of all, I'd like to thank those whom consistantly respond to random people making posts in these forums. Some of us would be lost if it were not for the help of nice people like yourselves.

I have a 1988 BII 4X4 2.9L V6 5 speed, and along with that, I have a few ??'s. (Go figure, right?)

1) What front seats fit into these trucks? My drivers seat is broken (permanently reclined on one side) and I'd like to replace it, but I'm not all that picky. If there is a better seat out there from a Ranger or Explorer that would fit equally well, I'm game.

2) My drivers rear tail lamp works in a strange fashion. The turn signals work, the parking light works (the top element in the bulb), but when I go to brake, the second element doesn't come on, and on top of that, the element that was lit for the parking light goes out. So basically with the lights on, the left rear tail lamp goes dark when I brake, and comes back on to "running light" status when I'm not braking. I replaced the bulb with no success. I also have NO backup lights whatsoever. Thoughts?

Thanks for all the help guys!

Jeremy

I think it largely depends on the junkyard. I found a nice sent of 'high back' bucket seats from an 89 BII that bolted in perfectly. They were in great condition and were blue which matched my interior. I paid $90 for both. I probably could have talked him down more but I really liked the seats and didn't feel like haggling.

my brake light on drivers side started not coming on and the tail light was twice as bright as the other ( only when the head lights or park lights were on,it worked normal when lights were off) .. i took the bulb out and replaced it same thing happened so i took it back out and looked inside the bulb sockett there was all kynds of funk grime and grease.. i cleaned it out problem solved

clean if this doesn't fix it look for a broken or pinched wire
