I was just starting the back half of a 48(double shift), we were in the kitchen cleaning the morning breakfast dishes. We had the news on as is usual. We saw the whole thing, after the first plane hit the Bat Chief sounded the house bell and had everybody come to the day room to watch the news. We watched the news most the rest of the day and prayed that nobody we knew from FDNY was on shift that morning. Unfortunately their was, lost several ff's that I knew personally that morning. We didn't hardly talk the whole day just sat their in disbelief hoping they(civilians and firefighters) got out before the towers collapsed. Realizing in all likely hood the number of fatalities would be high. Never forget the 343, or the police officers or civilians murdered that morning.

I just want to thank all of you for sharing your feelings in this matter, and I hope that by sharing, it somehow helps the healing as well. God bless all the firefighters, and policeman, as well as their families, who sacrifice so much for all of us on a daily basis.
