While replacing the injector o-rings last weekend I noticed a rather large pool or oil in the engine valley that was not there a few weeks ago. When I finished the injector job I thoroughly cleaned out the valley and everything in it with brake cleaner and water. After driving a few hundred miles I looked again and the oil was back, not as much, but it was there filling the low spots. With a flashlight I layed across the engine looking into every corner trying to find out where it came from. Taking advice from previous posts I looked at the turbo pedestal (o-rings and EBPV actuator) and the HPOP lines and fittings. Everything looks clean, so I think the HPOP itself must be leaking from underneath.
It seems like other guys that have had this problem are told by the dealership that the whole pump needs to be replaced. Is it really necessary to replace the whole pump, or is it just a seal? What is it on the pump that fails if it's not one of the fittings?
International has came out w/ a pump plug repair kit. It comes w/ new plugs and fittings. The pump does need to be removed to install this kit. ill get ya the part number tomorrow if ya want.
Does the repair kit come with any gaskets or o-rings needed to re-seal the pump to the engine front cover? If you could get me the part number that would be great. Is there also a tool that international sells for releasing the fittings on the HPOP?
Some kits have the gasket some dont. I dont know why that is. There is a special tool that is used to release the lines from the fittings. I dont know if it is availabe for sale from the dealer or not. I know we do not sell them to customers. We do however let customers borrow a tool but it has to be brought back the next day and the tool must be in good working order as it was when it was borrowed. If you ask your service department nicely they shouldnt have a problem. YOU MUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLUG REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION. failure to do so will result in a no start situation and you will have to replace the pump anyways.

I considered the IPR o-rings because I just replaced them about two months ago. I thought maybe I messed something up, but there is no oil around the IPR.
