I have been thinking of a lift, but can't decide on 3-4-6. I see kits like this http://shop.offroadwarehouse.com/ind...item=3-3000-99 and then I see the same spring brackets on ebay for 175.00. I thought you could run 33's stuck on these things. I have looked through the galleries for countless hours, and would like to do the 3 inch spring hangers, but will that put the front taller than the back? Is a different trac-bar nessecary on a 3 inch lift?? I found a 5.5 inch fab-tech lift with just front springs, rear blocks and all u-bolts. Other than shocks what am I really missing from this?? Sorry to be a noob pain, but I'm used to my old hiboy and such. THanks for any help-Aaron.
5.5 inch fab should come with shocks.. although you will probably want to upgrade anyways. Other than that the kit would come with everything.
With a 4" whether you did hangers or springs i would chage out the pitman arm and then a trac bar bracket.
The one's you are talking about on ebay, I believe they are from a company called nixon perfomance. There is somebody on this site who bought some and ended up re-welding them because they were originally done crapy.
I "think" you can run 33's stock... but might rub them if you off-road it much.
i had a 77 f250 highboy... was my second truck.. i was 16... (first truck was a chevy luV... was a great truck... really tough...but last chev ill ever own..) Cuase when i got that highboy.. i was a Ford man for life...thats where it all started.... it was black.......ohh memories...
Ditto...mine was also a 77...dark blue...stuck a 8" lift on it back in the day when you couldn't buy a off the shelf lift.... You want to talk about a stiff ride...dam nearly loose your teeth in that thing...but it was big before big was kewl
I't had the 300- 6 in it, untill I got a 460 out of a donor lincoln.......
ALways been ford, from my grandpa on. We have always had mustangs, big pickups ect. I'm 19 and have bought, rebuilt, and sold 74-79 4x4's since I was 14. I still have my 77 with added leaves, and re-arched springs on 38's, but I miss my 79 f-250 supercab 4x4. SUch an awesome pickup, bought it from the original owner too. But had to sell that along with my 75-76 f-150 4x4's to fund my 99 cobra. After owning it is almost seem like the cool old ones not so cool. I could pretty much dismantle a 74-79 f-series in my sleep. And the 5.5 inch I was talking about was just springs and blocks and u-bolts, nothing else. I know an adj. trac-bar is 260-somthing, and the pitman arm, no big deal. I don't do much-if any off-roading just the occasionaly muddy road going to the house. So unless going over a speed bump is off-roading I should be fine. Thanks for the input.

Great truck...
mine came with 351W.. my dad helped me rebuild it, all parts from summit!.. cam, pistons, manifold, 4 barrel, had it bored.... after that it had some gettup!.. the ride was VERY stiff...lol
I just put a 3.5" fabtech hanger kit on my 04 f-250 4x4. They say the kit is a leveling kit but I think I may put a 1" block in the rear. The install took me one day, it retains the stock ride, cant beat that. I installed the new trackbar also, It was very simple. Check out this site empireoffroad.com thats where I bought mine. Good luck on your choice it took me quite a while before I went with this kit.
