Heavy Duty Payload Package

Can anyone tell me why is the Heavy Duty Payload Package only available with an 8 foot bed? Thanks

Welcome to FTE bczinski. I would imagine that people who tow regularly, or who carry major weight, will only use a long bed. It is better to tow with a longer vehicle too, so Ford has logic on their side. Is there a certain aspect to the package that you are looking for, in a different configuration (like 4.10 gearing)? I know I would have liked to been able to get 4.10s in my Scab, but Ford has to deal with the EPA and gas mileage averages. With the averages going up every year, Ford has to keep "mileage friendlier" gears in the vast majority of their vehicles. This clearly keeps 4.10s out.
