92 Explorer exhaust question

92 Explorer exhaust question
I got a 92, that exhaust rots out every year just after the one year warranty runs out. My question is...on the 92 you have 2 mufflers, the one large one and another small one that sits kind of verticle over the rear axle. It always goes at the verticle one from moisture. Could I do away with it and run straight pipe instead of that muffler? its broken off again, and the noise is not any worse without it...whats it do? and would doing away with it affect anything?

it rots right after the warranty runs out? How convenient (for those making money off you) next time...go somewhere else, get stainless steele if you can...and get something with a LIFETIME warranty!...just my $.02

About 8 years ago my exhaust rusted off. I put on a Flowmaster cat back system. ITs still on there and working great. I think I paid about 135 or so for it. Well worth every penny at this point + plus it sounds good.
