hi everyone, im new to the forums and full of questions. i have a 1977 ford f-150 4x4. it came with a 351m engine but i am in the process of switching to a 390. this is where the problem begins. i already have the engine built and even hooked up to the transmission but the motor mounts are off by about 2 inches. what should i do? do other engine mounts work, like out of an f-250 4x4 or what. please help me to save time and money. thanks, scott
EDIT
just to clarify, the engine mounts are the frame mounts not the rubber piece.
You should be able to go to your local discount auto store and get these. Just ask for mounts that go in your truck with a 390 engine. These engines (360-390) came stock in these trucks in the first few years (73-76). My local Napa store had them in stock for around $8-$10 each last year when I bought them. The sponsors at the top of this page will have them too. -Ed
EDIT:
Sorry, I thought you were talking about the engine side, as for the frame towers you can get them from a scrap yard from a donor truck and may even be able to get them through sponsor's for this site. I think a scrap yard would be less expensive. -Ed
You will need the frame mounts from a truck that came with a FE engine. 360/390. Should be easy to come by in a local junk yard. If not, I am sure that you can find them at one of our many sponsor s.
you can unbolt your frame brackets and move them back and drill new holes also my ol 74 had a 300/390/429 all the same stands the last time i moved them i just welded them down.dont spend the $ if ya dont have to thats allways the therory here
