Question NP-205 Problem

OK guys. . .I gave my '78 F150 Supercab its semi-annual bath yesterday, and I crawled under it just to check things out. I noticed that the rear output shaft seal on the xfer case was leaking. Now, I've rebuilt Ford engines and transmissions, but I've never touched a xfer case. Is this seal something I can change out without dropping the case to the ground? Also, can I go purchase a seal, or will I need to buy an entire overhaul kit? What is involved with changing out this seal? As I said, I've never seen a case taken apart.
Who makes a good tech manual (Haynes, Chilton, etc) for this case?

I prefer the factory ford manuals. I got mine off ebay. As far as the seal, they are pretty easy. You need to take the pinion out and then pry the seal out. It is easier if you take the little housing that holds the seal out. I think it is held on by 4 bolts. If you do that, then you need a gasket for it, though. You can buy the stuff individually. I bought seals and hand cut the gaskets for mine. Oh, the reason I say to take the housing off is that you can press the new one in easier, reducing the chance of denting the seal and making it leak. I press mine in with a vice. That way there is constant even pressure instead of blows.
