I just purchased an '85 bronco II with a 2.8 in it. It has a carberator, not the stock one. It idles a little high, but my question, or problem is. When I hit the accelarator quick, it has a hesatation to it. Any ideas and possible solutions?

i don't know if it makes you feel any better but i have the same problem with my 88 2.9. i haven't even worried about it since it has had the same problem for years. if you do figure out why it does this though, write back

Could be a broken accelerator pump diaphram in the carb. Take air filter off, look down into carb while moving throttle rod. If fuel does not spurt out, that is the problem. Also, if this is a different carb, the accel pump rod could be mis-adjusted. This will not apply to F.I. engines, sorry. (On the F.I., could be a bad or out-of-adjustment TPS.) Good luck, guys.

i have never made any adjustments to my tps. i tried unplugging it to see if it was bad, but it started to run really crappy, really fast. could the sensor still be bad, and just be giving a slightly wrong reading to the computer??
