Is there a difference?

I was just wondering, I have a 429 in an old snow plow and I want to rebuild it and put it into a car, Is their a difference between a 429 truck engine and a 429 car engine?

I think the 429 was used only in cars.

The 429 Lima engine is different, it is a truck specific engine. I don't know exactly what the difference is. I would guess it has simular differences like the 360/361 or the 390/391 engine differences.

I would keep looking.

The way I've seen it... Rancheros used the 429 as well. Truck or no. I guess it depends on who you ask.

The 429 is a 429. www.mortec.com/ has all the different casting numbers so you can double check to play it safe.

There were a few 429s from 1968 - 1972. 429 ThunderJet (2V & 4V versions), CobraJet (which used a 760 CFM Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor), Super CobraJet (780 CFM Holley), Two Boss 429s (S & T), and the 429 "Lima" engine used in large trucks like F-600s and larger which still produced after 1972.
