I have an 86 broncoII 2.9 v6 with 166,000 mile on it. the first question is about the automatic trans. it works fine except when you really try to accelerate hard from a stop, it doesn't shift to the next gear. it goes way up on the rpm's (4000-4500) then when i let off the gas it makes a grinding noise as the rpm's drop. What could be the problem? a new tranny was installed about 8000 miles ago. my next question is a few nights ago i was driving home from work and when i turned my lights on, the interior gauges lights started to blink on and off.( the headlightsdont blink, just the gauge lights) I have never seen this before any ideas?
As far as the tranny I can't help you. I don't know much about trannys. Its sounds like it's time to tear apart the dash. I'm thinking you have a loose connection in your dash. Just pull it apart as directed buy a good repair manuel and check all your wires and connections to your lights. Good luck.
on my 88, there is a flex circuit behind the gauges. this circuit is connected to all of the lights in the dash, and i think you might find the problem there. the lights start to deteriorate the circuit and will cause some or all of the lights in the dash to turn on and off without the outside lights being effected
