Hugs

Do you guys think it is ok for 2 guys to give each other a hug? I'm talking about them being best friends, or brothers etc.

I hug my really close male friends all the time. Don't think thatthere is anything wrong with it.

Fine for others, maybe. Not for me. Just not built to be that way.

I have no problem with it if it's a one arm hug. When it goes to a full embrace, I get a little uncomfortable.

I guess that's just me...

To better answer this, I will ramble a little... If you know a man, who has suffered a tragic loss, and is torn apart with grief, would you stiff limbed, embarrassed guys just pat him on the back and say there there, or would you give the guy what he really needs, a hug?

folk seem to think that there must be some homoesque behavior within the male hug, so to do it would make you in some way less of a man.. Do you hug your child? or is society so screwed up, with accusations of the new witch hunters, that a man can't even hug his own child.

If you do hug your child, do you hug them as they get older, or is there a magic cut off day, when your child will suddenly be unhuggable?

I will hug anything, and anyone who wants hugging - This does not make me less of a man at all, doesn't make my sexuality become threatened, and certainly doesn't make the world regard me any differently than it did before.. Some of you have met me, and a few of you have gotten a hug from me before, I would not imagine any of you think any less of me, for my hugs.....

So, guys who can't hug guys.... find a guy you call a friend, and give him a hug... Then just to make your Machoistic tendencies feel right, go hug a woman you know too. Then just so they all don't get jealous, hug a dog, or a cat.. Then go to Toys are us, and buy the biggest Teddy Bear you can find, and practice hugging.

OK, Theo pretty much put it into perspective. I'd like to change my answer to his.

Thanks Theo

And yes, I do hug my friends and especially my kids and I will continue to hug them till the day I die.

Nope. I would not even pat him on the back. Yes I did hug my children, still do my daughter, but the hugs for my son ended @ about 13 when he started pushing me away.

Just to get this in perspective, I never hugged anybody until I got married into a "Huggy" family, and even then I do it very badly and with huge discomfort.

I even stopped going to church , not because I lost religion, but partly because they suddenly wanted you to turn around and shake hands with complete strangers. Then they make a grab for you and try and hug you too

No Thanks!! Not for me.
You want to do that, hug kiss, peel off your clothes for all I care, go ahead, no skin off my nose. Just stay away from my comfort circle.

I've always wondered about this. My son is now 28 and he still gets hugs from me. Better than that he willingly receives them and gives them back.

Never crossed my mind that he might soon become unhuggable.

And yes, I will give and receive hugs from burly men such as myself.

Don’t let pride deprive you of a friendly and/or compassionate embrace.

I still hug my dad when I go over to see him, and Im 18. Ive never even thought about not hugging him. He's my father and even though I dont get to see him as much as I want to, we're still very close.

I hug my two sons 11 and 20 years old. My Dad was not a hugger so now that he's getting up in age I have started to hug him first since he won't. He is OK with that. Set the example.........Go theo......

I hug my son only. It's not because I'm worried how it would look. I am very personal with my space I don't like anyone to be within 1.5 feet of me. Thats just the way i feel.

I'm like Ringo, come from a very distant family, but engaged to a woman from a very close and huggy family. At times can be rather uncomfortable.
