Anyone have any ideas? My truck won't drop out of high idle. It did it a while back before it got warm out and now its doing it again now that its getting cold again. When I shift and release the clutch it jumps up to almost 3k and almost launches me.
Any help would be great.
Check for vacuum leaks, especially around the throttle blade shaft. Those have been known to wear out and create a leak around them. Also check your IAC solenoid to male sure it's not stuck open or freezing open.
Had similar problem about (4) months ago. Truck idled at 2200 RPM'S all the time. Turned out to be the Upper Intake Manifold gasket leaking badly. Replaced the U.I.M. gasket and all was well. I have a post on here called extremely high idle, I believe, that went thru that problem. You can spray carb cleaner around any likely areas and if the idle increases it should indicate a leak. Mine was the right front corner as viewed from the front. Driver's side front corner. It took an (8) inch long T40 Torx bit to get the center passenger side bolt out, but other than that it wasn't too bad. Take good digital pictures first helped too.
If you click on a person name in a post it will give you the option of viewing all there post. Could be lengthy for someone with thousands of posts, but I only have a 100. The thread link below is one on the upper intake manifold bolt removal.
I have a 302 - 5.0 liter. If you go into your profile setup and set up your signature, when you put the mouse pointer on the word signature in the member info on the right of a post it will show your truck info.
